《究竟真實——傅佩榮談老子》一書，是台大哲學系教授傅佩榮鑽研中西方哲學三十餘年，並參考歷代專家學者的研究，對經典《老子》的全新詮釋。
老子是道家的創始者，他所謂的「道」，是指「究竟真實」而言，亦即要將人生依託在永恆不變的基礎上，再由此觀照人間，安排適當的言行方式，他在儒家之外，另闢一條更寬廣的路。
《老子》似乎是一面鏡子，人們總能藉它照見自己的長相，而未必說得清楚它原來的用意為何。人生在世，需要智慧。智慧是一道門檻，只有跨過去和跨不過去兩種。不懂《老子》的人，顯然還在門檻的一邊，還沒跨過去；藉由閱讀本書，不但能掌握《老子》的智慧，還能讓自己的人生活得更自在、更有智慧
